We are proud to have two highly regarded financial and operational backers, who provide guidance and support as our business grows.
Ivy Gate sits proudly within the Spire Ventures portfolio of companies.
Formerly known as Hamilton Bradshaw Real Estate (HBRE), Spire Ventures is London’s most active property-focused venture capital group. Founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Faisal Butt, Spire Ventures has grown from strength to strength as the firm’s reputation for its relationship based approach to venture capital and private equity investment continues to attract the most talented entrepreneurs.
Spire Ventures was founded based on the basic premise that success in property is less about the physical real estate and more about the people working the assets. This simple realisation has been the cornerstone of their investment thesis – they invest in the very best management teams innovating in this sector, both in start-ups and existing businesses. Their approach is tailored to each business and almost always involves the building of ‘dream teams’ to help accelerate the founders’ growth plans.
One of the UK’s most successful and dynamic entrepreneurs
James Caan was recognised in the 2015 New Years Honours List with a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to entrepreneurship and charitable services through the James Caan Foundation.
James is the founder and CEO of Hamilton Bradshaw, based in Mayfair, London. The company was founded in 2004 and specialises in buyouts, venture capital, turnarounds, and real estate investment in the UK.
He began a successful career in recruitment. Just a few years later James founded Alexander Mann, a UK recruitment business which he successfully grew to £130m turnover with 30 offices worldwide. During the same period, he was keen to explore the international market and launched Humana International, a franchising model, establishing 147 offices in 30 countries. He subsequently sold both businesses in 1999.
In 2007, James was invited to join the panel of the highly popular BBC TV show Dragons’ Den. During his time on the show, he invested in a diverse range of businesses and as a result increased his profile in the media. James has always believed that the UK is an excellent platform for British entrepreneurs, and that advances in technology provide them with many more opportunities than when he started out. He is hugely passionate about the SME sector and understands the challenges they face at each stage of their lifecycle.
