First-time buyers are paying an average of £15,000 more for a starter home than last year, according to latest figures. The price of properties with two bedrooms or less increased by 8.2 per cent, double the average percentage growth across the rest of the market. It bucks the trend for a 1.1 per cent decrease in national average asking price for homes with three bedrooms or more since October, with smaller homes showing growth of 1.7 per cent this month.
